The only way you would know about this place is through word of mouth or if you know someone local. Pretty hidden spot - or atleast you wouldn't notice it until you see a line outside. I came here on a Thursday night and there was a queue outside the place like around 8:30 PM. So the place is definitely popular. Given the wait times - I decided to go with a to go box. The ambience is pretty average - it's a small place. They pretty much cook in front of you seperated by a table. Talking about food - it's very simple and cheap. I tried Tofu Mushroom and I liked it. Not much going on - just simple homely food. Maybe that's what pull people here.

Tiny, diner style, Asian comfort food spot in the mission district. Friday night, we waited about 45mins for a spot to sit for dinner. Ordered the tra leaf salad, egg rolls, samsusas, curry chicken, mango chicken, cold noodles, and some other stuff. Overall it's good, relatively healthy. Fresh ingredients and made to order. Taste wise, it was fine. Not many negatives. Nothing fancy to honest. It is very affordable for 2025 and being in the heart of the city which is definitely a plus. If you want a simple, somewhat hearty, affordable, Asian meal that's made to order, this is your spot. Otherwise, it's not fancy and nothing impressive. I think to go orders are better here if you're in a rush. Might be back.

I'm an Angeleno who is moving to San Francisco for school so I figured I might as well check out the food scene. For context the first time I ever experienced Burmese food was when I was 10 and funny enough, also in San Francisco. Second time with experiencing Burmese food I am so glad that I chose Yamo. Do not expect a typical dining experience with being seated and treated like a princess, Michelle and her mother are the only two working here and they make sure you're treated like a friend. Their beef noodles, samusa, and chicken curry are a flavor explosion and you will have spent the best $23 of your life for all three of those items if you do go.
